What is a crown?

A crown can help strengthen a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining to hold the filling. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It’s also used to cover a dental implant.

Full Porcelain/ Ceramic Crowns

All ceramic or all porcelain dental crowns provide the best natural color match than any other crown type and may be more suitable for people with metal allergies. They are a great option for esthetically restoring anterior or “front” teeth.

Porcelain/ PFM Bridges

A dental bridge is a false tooth or teeth, known as a pontic, which is fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth or teeth. The two crowns holding it in place that are attached onto your teeth on either side of the false tooth. This is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures

Porcelain Onlays

A Porcelain Onlay can be utilized to conservatively repair a posterior tooth that has a large defective filling or has been damaged by decay or trauma. Onlay’s are an ideal alternative to conventional silver and composite fillings. Also, they are more conservative than crowns because less tooth structure is removed in the preparation of Onlay’s.
